In a shed on the outskirts of Milan, Roberto Bolle ’s dance met technology: in fact, the well-known Piedmontese dancer gave life to a poetic and exciting choreographic dialogue with a robot, dancing together with the machine, a robotic arm weighing one and a half tons programmed by Event Management technicians. It is, in fact, an idea developed by the dancer from Casale Monferrato himself. “When Roberto Bolle came to us and told us he wanted to dance with our robots,” said Daniele Parazzoli, Event Management’s managing director, “we explained to him that you don’t approach machines, you don’t touch them, you stay away from them. In response he told us ’I want to dance with them.’ A real challenge. We accepted it, and the result that is coming to life these days is incredible.”

The real challenge of the ballet was in the programming, says Cristina Redini, head of the Creative and Technology Department at Dance with Me. The difficult part, in fact, was “programming the machine to make it make subtle, delicate and fine movements that interact with Roberto Bolle. This had never been done before. The result is that we were able to give soul and emotion to a mechanical arm that usually moves tools and that has now become a partner in an artistic performance of the highest level.”
