"Raphael - the Prince of the Arts - in 3D" in Italian theaters from April 3 to 5.

On April 3, 4 and 5, 2017, the first-ever film adaptation of Raphael Sanzio will be shown in Italian cinemas.

Presented today in the Raphael Hall of the Vatican Museums is the 3D film that traces the life and artistic activity of the great Raphael Sanzio in 90 minutes.
"Raphael - the Prince of the Arts - in 3D" will be in theaters from April 3 to 5, 2017: it is the first ever film transposition on the Urbino genius.

The film, produced by Sky in collaboration with the Vatican Museums and Magnitudo Film and distributed by Nexo Digital, will narrate through artistic digressions entrusted to three well-known art historians (Antonio Paolucci, Vincenzo Farinella, Antonio Natali), historical reconstructions and advanced 3D technologies, the artistic journey of Raphael, which is articulated in 20 locations and presents 70 works, including 40 by the Urbino artist.

Exciting will be the reconstruction of how, according to drawings and studies, the Sistine Chapel must have looked on the night of Dec. 26, 1519, when, in the presence of the Pope, the first seven tapestries made by Raphael were displayed in the Chapel, surrounded by works by Perugino and Michelangelo, which have been lost. The production of the film has therefore relied on a professional painter to reproduce the lost works in order to virtually relocate them on the wall where the Last Judgment is admired today.

Raphael will be played by Flavio Parenti, the Fornarina by Angela Curri, Giovanni santi, Raphael’s father, by Enrico Lo Verso and Pietro Bembo by Marco Cocci.
The film, after its Italian premiere on April 3, 4 and 5, will be distributed in sixty countries around the world.
