OnSaturday, August 3, 2019 at 9 p.m., the Paestum Archaeological Park will present, near the Basilica, a concert by Himari Sugiura, a seven-year-old child prodigy gifted with great musical ability combined with uncommon artistic sensitivity.
Born in Tokyo, Himari was introduced to the piano at the age of four thanks to her mother, an amateur pianist, and, immediately, her musical aptitude was evident: in addition to the piano, she also plays the violin.
Music has always been her traveling companion. For the past few years she has lived in Italy but continues to divide her time between Japan and the rest of Europe.
In Rome, she was entrusted in 2017 to pianist Gianni Maria Ferrini (a pupil of pianist Orazio Frugoni), founder of theAccademia Ariadimusica and a collaborating maestro at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma for more than 25 years. Thanks to the maestro, Himari enhanced her special musical piano skills and developed her interpretative experience.
Thrilled at the idea of playing among the temples of Paestum, Himari enthusiastically agreed to participate in MAPP’s first review and this will be her first open-air concert.
In fact, the concert is part of MAPP - MusicArtProjectPæstum 2019, the first review of events organized by the Friends of Paestum together with the Paestum Archaeological Park, in collaboration with Ariadimusica, with the support of the Richard Wagner Associations of Rome, Milan and Ravello, and under the artistic direction of Claudia Bilotti.
