On October 3 and 4, 2019, at the premises of the Real Collegio di Lucca, the 15th edition of LuBeC - Lucca Beni Culturali, the international event dedicated to cultural heritage and sustainability, is kicking off. But that’s not all: in addition to talking about cultural heritage and sustainability, this year, as usual, at LuBeC there will be several themes on which workshops, seminars, interviews, talks and conferences will be developed, up to more than twenty-five free appointments focused on sector innovation.
Over the two days, LuBeC will focus on six areas in particular: management models for cultural heritage (replicable actions aimed at territorial systems and reflections on the skill sets needed to manage “change”); digitization, archives and open data (digital tools as supports to realize alternative forms of fruition and to implement processes of preservation and transmission of cultural heritage); cultural heritage and sustainability (economic, social, environmental. Sustainability is a key word for real growth of the cultural system, cities and contemporary communities); culture and well-being (promoting full and sustained participation in cultural and artistic activities so that every individual achieves a state of well-being, essential for good physical and mental health) museums and innovation (the museum as a contemporary cultural hub, a place for the formation of society); cultural heritage and Made in Italy (the connection between minds and cultural identity is what generates creativity, the hallmark of our know-how, of our Italy).
Guest Country 2019 will be the United Arab Emirates, present with a delegation and an interactive exhibition space, to anticipate the reflection of Expo Dubai2020 - Connecting Minds, Creating the Future, but also to meet new partners to develop activities in the sector. Still, to strengthen direct knowledge of solutions devised by the national entrepreneurial system, there will be LuBeC Digital Technology, the exhibition review of tourism-cultural products and services for the enhancement of cultural heritage, with B2B and networking opportunities between private and public and private.
New for 2019 is the large CreaTech Open Lab, a two-day training session on the use of gamification techniques for the enhancement of cultural heritage, with the support of Lucca Intec and the media partnership of MAXXI - Museo nazionale delle arti del XXI secolo. The workshop will be led by one of the leading experts in the field, Fabio Viola, and will lead to the conception of a product dedicated to the Network of Villas and Gardens of Lake Maggiore, the Association of Villas and Palaces of Lucca, MuSA - Virtual Museum of Sculpture and Architecture, the Guglielmo Giordano Foundation in its Villa Spinola location, the National Archaeological Museum of Naples and the City of Parma. Participants (professionals, practitioners and businesses) will work in teams with representatives of these cultural venues.
The 2019 edition of LuBeC is directed by Francesca Velani and counts on a scientific committee composed of leading experts in the field: Laura Canale, Expert in Strategic and Community Planning; Paola Chini Polidori, Curator Galileo Chini Collection; Maria Adriana Giusti, President of the Degree Course in History and Conservation of Architectural and Environmental Heritage Politecnico di Torino - Architecture II; Elisabetta Kelescian, former Italian Ambassador to Finland; Daniele Malfitana, Director IBAM CNR; Elena Pianea, Director of Education - City of Florence; Ettore Pietrabissa, President of ICC Italy; Maddalena Ragni, Director General for Cultural Heritage and Landscape MIBAC; Antonia Pasqua Recchia, Member CDA Archaeological Park of the Colosseum; Gaetano Scognamiglio, President Promo P.A.
