Modenantiquaria, an international event dedicated to high antiques, returns for its XXXVII edition

Modenantiquaria is in its XXXVII edition this year. From Feb. 10-18, 2024, the international event dedicated to fine antiques returns to ModenaFiere. Petra and Sculptura will also be held at the same time.

Modenantiquaria, an international event dedicated to high antiques, now in its XXXVII edition, returns to ModenaFiere from February 10 to 18, 2024. Sponsored by Associazione Antiquari d’Italia and FIMA - Federazione Italiana Mercanti d’Arte, Modenantiquaria aims to be the benchmark event for those seeking excellence in high antiques in a unique location where collectors, enthusiasts and art dealers meet in search of precious masterpieces. The event thus aims to be the perfect marriage of art, passion and business, as well as an exemplary showcase for the sector’s most distinguished galleries, which often exhibit works that are also previously unseen.

Last year’s was “an edition of true excellence that brought many of the best Italian galleries and some excellent international galleries to Modena,” said ModenaFiere CEO Marco Momoli. "In the auctions of the first half of 2023, all sectors lost compared to the previous year, with a drop of up to 30 percent. Boasting stability was the Old Masters segment; antique work proved to be a safe haven asset, a safe investment. Old opera, the old master precisely, has its own very strong aura and deep cultural value." And the goal of the 2024 edition is to further improve on last year’s excellent result.

“We live in a country with the highest density of works of art in the world, which are often secret and inaccessible,” said Pietro Cantore, President of Antiquari Modenesi and Treasurer of the Associazione Antiquari d’Italia, Art Consultant Modenantiquaria. “The antiquarian, working year-round in the search for works of art, has the fundamental role of rediscovering objects that have remained hidden over decades, if not centuries, making them visible to the general public of enthusiasts and collectors. Modenantiquaria is a unique event where the best Italian and international antiquarians gather, bringing the fruits of their assiduous research work.”

Participating in Modenantiquaria 2024 will be Dario Ghio, Tornabuoni Arte, Maurizio Nobile Fine Art, Carlo Orsi, Lampronti Gallery, Enrico Gallerie d’Arte, Marco Longari Milano, Copetti Antiquariato, Cantore Galleria Antiquaria, Antichità Giglio, Reve Art, Mirco Cattai, Raffaello Pernici Best Ceramics, Verdini Antiquities, Studiolo, Maurizio Brandi, Altomani Sons, Alice Fine Art, Butterfly Institute, Iotti Antiquities, Attilio Cecchetto Antiquarian, Fondantico di Tiziana Sassoli, Antiquities at the Oratory, Galleria del Caminetto, Davide Masoero’s Secol Art, Ossimoro Gallery, Camellini Gallery, Arcuti Fine Art, Phidias Antiques, La Pieve Antiquities, Cesaro Art Gallery, Le due Torri Gallery, Antiquities Via Ganaceto, Ducci Dipinti Antichi, Ars Antiqua, Galleria Giamblanco, Mattarte, Galleria Maspes, Giusti Antichità, Galleria San Barnaba, Antichità Renzo Moroni, 800 900 Art Studio, Milani Antichità, I Volpini, BFacchini, Antichità G.N., Les Galeries du Luxemburg, Art Decoratif, Barbieri Antiquities, Fabrizio Fallavena Antiquities, Kalos Gallery, Andrisani Federico, Sine Tempore Studio, Gallery 900, Il Mercante Antichità’ E.L.A. Simultaneously with Modenantiquaria will be held Petra, the exhibition dedicated to landscape design between classic and contemporary. In its 30th edition, Petra is completely renewed in a new format dedicated to theoutdoors, combining the past and the present, the ancient and the modern, the classic and the contemporary, between city and country. Visitors will find innovative and special proposals that will enhance the importance of the design and planning of outdoor areas, understood as the coordination and harmonization of different elements - products and services - to create balance and beauty, and thus well-being and sustainability. The new concept will also be proposed through two installations designed by architects/landscapers and nurserymen: Domus PETRA, the hybridization of indoor and outdoor in the city (project by Giulio Cappellini) and Scenarios of Lifestyle (project by Marta Meda, Luca Fois, Camilla Fraboni, Francesca Urli).

With the support of the Associazione Antiquari d’Italia, SCULPTURA also returns. Italian Masterpieces from the 13th to the 20th Century, now in its third edition, thus consolidating its goal as an annual event aimed at collectors and enthusiasts in the sector. Modenantiquaria offers itself as an ad hoc context to a project entirely dedicated to a revival of interest in sculpture. Art collectors, designers and experts in search of the unique piece will be able to confront tradition, great authors and also the most innovative proposals.
