Modena, contemporary artworks arrive on city cabs

In Modena, works by contemporary artists go ... in a cab: an initiative to literally take contemporary art on the road.

Contemporary art works by Modenese artists on the cabs that are in service in Modena: it is a “traveling” exhibition in the truest sense of the word that Tcom (a company of products and services for cabs) and the CNA of Modena are launching under the patronage of the Municipality. Entitled Expotaxi, the exhibition, created thanks to the willingness of Modena taxi drivers associated with the Radiotaxi Cotamo consortium, brings reproductions by five artists, namely Cinzia Ascari, Andrea Chiesi, Pier Lanzillotta, Marino Neri and Beatrice Pucci, to the vehicles.

The initiative aims to be a “collective exhibition” on the road by Modenese artists (born or adopted), who have shared the desire to bring their works around the city using cabs as a kind of canvas on which to display and develop creative ideas accessible to all, at a time when the prolonged closures of cultural venues have created a vacuum. Today, Wednesday, Feb. 3, a photo set was set up in Piazza Grande, next to the Cathedral, to “capture” the cabs on which the artists exhibited. Some of them were present at the set, along with Culture Councilor Andrea Bortolamasi and Cotamo President Mirco Venturelli. The promoters’ intention is to replicate and make the experience continuous, involving other artists and other creative languages and styles.
