Tomorrow, March 8, on the occasion of Women’s Day, all state museums and cultural sites will be free for all women.
MiBACT is celebrating women again this year with an all-female initiative: until March 8, the Instagram profile of @Museitaliani will be invaded by more than thirty digital posters, selected by art historians of the main Italian Museums, paying homage to women in art history, such as Sofonisba Anguissola, Artemisia Gentileschi, Madame de Staël, and the female characters that have been most depicted in art, such as Cleopatra and Ophelia.
In addition, the #8marzoalmuseo social campaign invites a real treasure hunt of female depictions in paintings, sculptures, and frescoes in Italian museum collections to share and publicize on social media the works of Italian cultural heritage dedicated to women.
