Lucca, kicks off third edition of Lucca Art Fair, May 18-20

Scheduled for May 18-20, 2018, is the third edition of Lucca Art Fair, a contemporary art market exhibition, directed by Paolo Batoni, taking place at the Polo Fieristico di Lucca. There are about fifty exhibitors this year, divided into five sections: Main section with thirty-two galleries, Temporary art zone - T.A.Z. with five galleries devoted to experimental research, Critical readings with four galleries that bring pairs of artists into dialogue, Overcoming projects and Publishing. Among this year’s novelties is the Art tracker project, curated by Gabriele Tosi, which involves with site-specific works four winning artists of the Combat Prize: Martina Brugnara, Chiara Campanile, Marco Groppi and Simone Monsi.

Talks are then renewed, in the Vissi d’arte format featuring 30-minute interviews with artists, gallerists and insiders: this year on the “stage” of Lucca Art Fair will be Claudio Poleschi (gallery owner), Giuliano Tomaino (artist), Irene Sanesi (president of the Pecci Foundation), Vittorio Corsini (artist), Dario Matteoni (director of the Alma Artis Accademia di Belle Arti in Pisa), Angelo Minisci (professor of design at Laba, Libera Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence) and Baerbel Reinhard and Giuseppe Toscano (photographers and lecturers at the Fondazione Studio Marangoni).

“Lucca Art Fair,” reads the presentation, “aims to give continuity to a path of art that has never been interrupted, offering a concrete opportunity for visibility to all the operators of the sector who practice with recognized quality in the art system, thus favoring the re-birth of a conscious patronage that can be a true protagonist in the active support of art. Lucca Art Fair also aims to be an important annual event of meetings, entertainment, exchange of experiences and knowledge that activates and develops a professional and amateur network that is indispensable for the proper growth of the contemporary art system.”

The exhibition opens Friday, May 18 from 3 to 8 p.m., Saturday, May 19 and Sunday, May 20 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets: full 10 euros, reduced 8 euros (for groups of at least 10 people, disabled, handicapped and over 65), reduced easy 5 euros (for students and concessionaires), free for children under 12.
