Sponsored by theAssociazione Antiquari d’Italia and FIMA, the XXXVIII edition of Modenantiquaria kicks off today at ModenaFiere, confirming itself as the benchmark event for lovers ofFine Antiques. Prestigious antiques galleries will exhibit the best of their collections until February 16, offering collectors and enthusiasts masterpieces of extraordinary refinement and quality. Many of the works presented, authentic rarities, will be unveiled for the first time, stunning the public with their beauty and uniqueness.
This XXXVIII edition aims to surpass last year’s outstanding success, which recorded more than 36,000 visitors, more than 150 participating galleries and major transactions. It is not only a prestigious exhibition-market, where renowned Italian and international galleries exhibit pieces of absolute excellence, but also a cultural event. In fact, each edition hosts talks featuring museum directors, art historians, journalists and antiquarians.
The exhibition layout, curated by Ruggero Moncada di Paternò, is a distinctive feature of the event, as is the way exhibitors present their works: carefully selected paintings, furniture and objets d’art. Visitors and collectors are invited to be inspired by new trends in exhibition taste; antiquarians work passionately to set up the most fascinating stands, showcasing the rarest and most significant pieces from their collections.

The Exhibition, now in its XXXVIII edition, is the perfect blend of art, passion and business as well as an exemplary showcase for the most illustrious galleries in the sector, which often display works that are also previously unseen.”
“One of the exhibition’s pivotal elements is to give buyers peace of mind,” Momoli concludes, “about the quality and authenticity of the works on display. Every single piece, already selected by the prestigious participating Galleries, is then examined and judged by an authoritative Commission of art historians and internationally accredited specialists.”
“To paraphrase a famous phrase by Italo Calvino, an antique never finishes saying what it has to say,” adds Pietro Cantore, President of Antiquari Modenesi and Vice President of the Associazione Antiquari d’Italia as well as Art Director of Modenantiquaria. “One of the questions I am often asked is why such an important antiques show has taken root in Modena,” he concludes. “I have asked myself this many times, and the only plausible answer lies in the strength of the province. Modenantiquaria is an exhibition that lives with and for the city; the same strength and philosophy as TEFAF Maastricht or Art Basel in Basel.”
Simultaneously with the XXXVIII Edition of Modenantiquaria, the IV Edition of Sculptura. Italian Masterpieces from the 13th to the 20th Century and the XXXI Edition of Petra. Projects and Landscapes between Classic and Contemporary.
Modenantiquaria is open to the public Monday through Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m.; Thursday through Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
