Coming to theaters exclusively on Dec. 12 and 13 is the docufilm "The Living Art of Julian Schnabel." Directed by Neapolitan director Pappi Corsicato, the film traces the life and career of artist and filmmaker Julian Schnabel, who was born in Brooklyn and raised in Brownsville, Texas.

Schnabel was one of the most unconventional and restless painters on the contemporary scene who debuted in the New York City of the late 1970s, gained notoriety in the 1980s until achieving superstar status in the Manhattan art scene.

The film will also take a look at films made by Schnabel such as “Basquiat” in 1995, “Before It’s Night” (2000, Silver Lion - Grand Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival) and “The Scafandro and the Butterfly” (2007, Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival, two Golden Globes and Best Director nomination at the Oscars).

During the film there will be space for testimonials from Schnabel’s friends, including Al Pacino, Mary Boone, Jeff Koons, Bono and Laurie Anderson. “The Living Art of Julian Schnabel” is produced by Buena Onda with Rai Cinema and distributed in theaters by Nexo Digital with media partners Sky Arte HD and MYmovies.it.
