The traditional appointment with Invito a Palazzo, the day when Italian banks open the doors of their art treasures to the public, is renewed. The event, which this year takes place tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 2, is now in its 20th edition: promoted by Abi in collaboration with ACRI, it will allow the public to admire the immense art collections in the historic and modern offices of the Banks and Foundations of banking origin. An important anniversary, then, for a successful project that over time has become an event that attracts thousands of art lovers.
Edition number XX is in dual mode, live and virtual: until October 9, in fact, the experience will continue in digital form with podcasts, live streaming events, videos and virtual visits on the portals of the Banks, Foundations and Bank of Italy. All digital contributions will be featured on the event website(palazzi.abi.it) and on Muvir.eu (muvir.eu), the digital museum of banking in Italy. The event has the patronage of the Italian National Commission for UNESCO, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Tourism. The initiative is part of the interventions promoted by the banking sector to enhance the national artistic heritage and to support culture as an engine of development for the country.
Not all banks are participating live; in fact, there are many that have opted for the digital-only form. Here are the ones opening in presence: the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Biella; the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Asti; the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Alessandria; the Intesa Sanpaolo Museum of Savings in Turin; the Banca Carige headquarters in Genoa; the Gallerie d’Italia in Piazza Scala in Milan; the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Trento e Rovereto in its Rovereto headquarters; and the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Gorizia; the Gallerie d’Italia at Palazzo Leoni Montanari in Vicenza; the Fondazione di Vignola at the Rocca di Vignola; the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Bologna; the Fondazione Ivan Bruschi in Arezzo; the Cassa di Risparmio di Fermo; the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Terni e Narni; the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Perugia; the Banca Popolare di Puglila e Basilicata in Chieti; and the Gallerie d’Italia at Palazzo Zevallos Stigliano in Naples.
“When you get to twenty editions of the same event,” says Antonio Patuelli, president of Abi, “you can say that the idea is good and the result is much appreciated. Invitation to the Palace is now a strong and well-established tradition on the Italian cultural scene and represents a day when the passion and commitment with which we all strive to make the time and place we live in better. This year the event will take place mainly in digital form through the promotion of audio-video and multimedia content shared on digital channels. On Saturday, Oct. 2, it will be possible to visit in compliance with measures to contain all risks some historical and modern branches of Banks and Foundations of banking origin, art collections, temporary exhibitions, historical archives and much more.”
“The rich historical and artistic heritage of our country,” says Francesco Profumo, president of ACRI, “is an extraordinary resource at the disposal of our fellow citizens and all humanity. Making accessible the caskets that hold part of this beauty is a responsibility for anyone who finds themselves protecting and handing down this heritage to future generations. Invitation to the Palace is, therefore, a meritorious initiative that, for 20 years, Abi and Acri have been promoting together with conviction, because it gives back to the communities of our territories some of the pillars of our identity owned by Banks and Foundations: places where industriousness and tension towards beauty have laid the foundations of our collective history. Being able, finally, to return to visit some of these places live and to admire their art treasures up close is an opportunity not to be missed.”
