From March 14 to 18, a special program of film screenings from the 2017 edition of Lo Schermo dell’Arte Film Festival, the major event in Florence that has been exploring, analyzing and promoting the relationship between contemporary art and cinema since 2008, arrives at the Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi in Venice. The small Venetian festival, which therefore renews its invitation to participate in the Florentine festival (held in November), is now in its fifth year.

Wednesday, March 14, 6 p.m., “Julian Rosefeldt’s Manifesto” (95’), featuring Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett bringing to life some of the most famous and provocative writings of great artists of the historical and neo avant-garde movements of the second half of the 20th century;
Thursday, March 15, 6 p.m. “Fall into Ruin by William E.Jones” (30’), focusing on Greek collector Alexander I olas and his visit to Iolas’ Athenian villa;
Thursday, March 15, 6:30 p.m., “Donald Judd and I” by Sasha Pirker (3’30’’) set in the room of the house in Los Angeles where Donald Judd discovered the furniture of Austrian architect Rudolph Schindler;
Thursday, March 15, 7 p.m., “The Dust Channel” by Roee Rosen (23’) short film that focuses on the obsession with dirt of a middle-class Israeli family;
Thursday, March 15, 7:45 p.m., “Koudelka Shooting Holy Land” by Gilad Baram, 2015 (71’), starring the famous Czech Magnum photographer;
Friday, March 16, 6 p.m., “Interregnum” by Adrian Paci (17’28’’), a documentary on the funerals of dictators in some countries of theformer Soviet Union;
Friday, March 16, 6:45 p.m., “Pre-Image (Blind as the MotherTongue)” by Hiwa K (17’40’’), a metaphorical re-enactment of the journey made by the Kurdish-Iraqi artist from the motherland toItaly;
Friday, March 16, 7:15 p.m., “Beuys” by Andres Veiel (107’), a biography of German artist-schaman Joseph Beuys;
Saturday, March 17, 6 p.m., there will be two episodes of the TV series “Live Art” - “Philippe Parreno, le temps de l’espace” (25’) and “Adrian Villar Rojas in Istanbul” (26’) both directed by Heinz Peter Schwerfel;
Saturday, March 17, 7:15 p.m., “Bom Bom’s Dream” by Jeremy Deller and Cecilia Bengolea (12’30’) centered on Jeremy Deller, winner of the Turner Prize in 2004;
Saturday, March 17, 7:30 p.m., “Whipping Zombie” by Yuri Ancarani (30’), the first documentary focusing on an ancient voodoo ritual in the Republic of Haiti;
Saturday, March 17, 8:15 p.m., “Controfigura” by Rä Di Martino (74’), the story of Corrado, a stand-in for Frank Perry ’s film “The Swimmer” (1968) who wanted to replace Filippo Timi in the lead role;
Sunday, March 18, 5 p.m., “In Art We Trust” by Benoît Rossel (85’), a collection of testimonies by artists such as Lawrence Weiner, John Armleder and Liam Gillick;
Sunday, March 18, 6:45 p.m., “Antonio Lopez 1970: Sex Fashion & Disco” by James Crump (90’), a tribute to the most famous and influential fashion designer of the 1970s.
