SIPAContest Festival is scheduled to take place in Siena from October 26 to 28, 2018, an event that will gather photography enthusiasts from all over the world and kick off a real month of celebration during which there will be many exhibitions and initiatives all centered on photography: the Beyond the Lens exhibition with the best photos submitted to the Siena International Photo Awards competition (one of the most important international photography competitions: 45.000 images in the competition coming from 127 different countries), unprecedented tours in the territory of Siena, post-production courses, workshops, lectures given by distinguished photographers and photographic exhibitions of important international authors. This is a festival designed precisely for photography enthusiasts, and will allow them to get to know one of the most beautiful cities in the world through unprecedented and exciting photography-related initiatives. “The objective of the Festival,” reads the presentation, “is to combine a cultural initiative of international scope with the name of Siena, a city of extraordinary inspiration for photographic research, starting with the Festival that makes it unique in the world and is its full and most intimate representation: the Palio.”
Among the events planned during the festival are lectures (such as Photo Journalism Talks, discussions with some of the best-known photojournalists of the moment such as Pulitzer Prize winner Melissa Farlow or Paula Bronstein, who won the 2017 World Press Photo award in the Daily Life category) seminars on photography, themed lunches, a gala dinner to be held on Saturday, Oct. 27, in one of the most .... photographed in the city, namely Rocca Salimbeni, the historic headquarters of Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena (reservations are required to attend).
