In Castelnuovo di Porto (Rome) the seventh edition of the festival Castelnuovo Fotografia

The seventh edition of Castelnuovo Fotografia, the photography festival in Castelnuovo di Porto (Rome), opens from Sept. 28 to Oct. 6. Eighteen exhibitions will illustrate the theme of this edition, the result of a new reflection on the theme of landscape: landscapes in motion; displacements; distances; alterations.

An unstoppable flow of billions of living beings crosses the Earth’s sphere measuring its landscape. Plants and fish, whales and butterflies, human beings and birds of all kinds move, traveling alone or in groups in the air, in the water, on the land, along treacherous paths, in search of stable conditions for life, for changing environmental conditions, or in search of new places where they can dream of rebuilding their idea of happiness.

On the last weekend of September, Saturday 28 and Sunday 29, two days of openings enlivened the castle and medieval village of Castelnuovo di Porto with exhibitions, debates, workshops, portfolio readings, talks, presentations, screenings and installations.

The event is organized by the Municipality of Castelnuovo di Porto and curated by the cultural association DIECIQUINDICI with the artistic direction of Elisabetta Portoghese and the scientific committee composed of Michela Becchis, art historian and curator, Manuela De Leonardis, art historian, journalist and curator, and Simona Filippini, photographer, curator and photography teacher.

The festival, enjoys the patronage of theCÁ FOSCARI University of Venice, theOrder of Architects Planners Landscapers and Conservators of Rome, theIILA - International Italo-Latin American Organization, thePolish Institute of Rome and the Ente Regionale Parco di Veio.

The event is realized with the support of the Lazio Region and the Municipality of Castelnuovo di Porto. For the second consecutive year, LEICA, a historic and prestigious brand and world leader in the production of professional cameras and optics, is a partner of the event thanks to the support of Leica Store Roma. In the beautiful setting of the Veio Park and in the landscape ofsouthern Etruria, just a stone’s throw from Rome, Claudia Ioan and Massimiliano Tuveri, both Certified by Leica photographers, will accompany participants on photo walks. Occasion in which it will be possible to deepen the technique of photographic language and field test LEICA cameras.

The festival has always moved by mutual comparison between the arts, crossing their undefined boundaries, making them become avenues of encounter and exchange.

The halls of the Colonna Castle open again this year to the artistic experience as a reason for social, cultural and aesthetic regeneration. The exhibited works, debates, social inclusion workshops, free seminars and portfolio readings aim to stimulate debate on contemporary photography and at the same time, foster dialogue between the different communities that interact and move across the contemporary landscape.

The 2019 edition benefits from the collaboration of numerous contemporary art galleries and, as has been the tradition for many years now, foreign cultural institutes.
