Here are the three artists chosen by Farronato for the Italian Pavilion at the 2019 Biennale: they are Enrico David, Chiara Fumai and Liliana Moro

Milovan Farronato has chosen the three artists for the Italian Pavilion at the 2019 Venice Biennale: they are Enrico David, Chiara Fumai and Liliana Moro.

The names of the artists chosen by Milovan Farronato for the Italian Pavilion of the 2019 Venice Biennale have been released: they are Enrico David (Ancona, 1966), Chiara Fumai (Rome, 1978 - Bari, 2017) and Liliana Moro (Milan, 1961). The curator explains his choice as follows: “straddling two generations, the works and biographies of Enrico David, Chiara Fumai and Liliana Moro, although very different, mark significant contemporary artistic paths that stand out for their spirit of research between past and present. Their works stand out for their unquenchable desire to explore territories in which the everyday, survival, tradition and narrative have a strong presence. I have worked closely with these three artists over the years, in solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad, and I am delighted to be able to work alongside their practices in this large-scale exhibition, which will include new works but also works from the past.” The curator entrusts Instagram with further wishes: “Voila! Here are the three artists who will participate in the Italian Pavilion at the 2019 Venice Biennale. We have been close companions and have gone through several adventures over the years on the occasion of their solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad. I am really excited at the thought of accompanying them through a new, exciting journey. Venice, are you ready?”

Federica Galloni, commissioner of the Italian Pavilion, comments, “The objectives of support, promotion, and enhancement of Italian art of the General Directorate for Art Contemporary Architecture and Urban Peripheries that I direct are fully represented by the three artists chosen for the upcoming Italian participation in Venice, who will be able to convey depth of vision and quality of research to the international audience.”

Satisfaction from the minister of cultural heritage, Alberto Bonisoli: “Internationality, contemporaneity, creativity are the words that will characterize the project of the Italian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale thanks to the contribution of these three protagonists of art, whose works will give life to an original and innovative exhibition under the expert guidance of a curator of their age.”
