Genoa, Luca Bizzarri presents his Palazzo Ducale: here is the 2018 program

The management of Palazzo Ducale under Luca Bizzarri officially kicks off in Genoa. The famous Genoese comedian, who has been the new president of Palazzo Ducale since last summer, presented the 2018 program, the first of his management. It will begin with a cycle on twentieth-century comic literature, curated by Bizzarri himself together with Tullio Solenghi. Then there will be an exhibition on Enzo Tortora, set up for the 90th anniversary of the famous TV host’s birth. Space will then be given to the review La Storia in piazza, curated by Luciano Canfora and Franco Cardini and dedicated to revolutions, the program Città di mare (an important new feature of 2018, a cycle dedicated to the relationship between Genoa and the sea) which will instead be curated by Claudio Magris and Margherita Rubino, the cycle Lo status del Vaticano curated by Marco Ansaldo and Sandro Isetta (four meetings on the current situation of the Vatican), and again the festival on independent publishing Book Pride, and two additional exhibitions: one on the great Genoese violinist Niccolò Paganini, which will include singer Ivano Fossati among its curators, and an exhibition entitled L’età dell’incertezza. Art in Italy in the 1920s, on the art of the decade 1919-1929, with works by Mario Sironi, Fortunato Depero, Giorgio De Chirico and others. As for photography, there will be an exhibition by Oliviero Toscani, free to the public and offered by Costa Crociere, which will start collaborating with the Palace from this year.

“I would like the Ducale to be a place where you don’t just have exhibitions, but where you come to live, where ideas meet and where ideas are exchanged,” Luca Bizzarri stressed during the presentation. In the meantime, the Palace continues its programming: the major exhibition on Antonio Ligabue, which we also reported on in these pages, will open soon. However, it is not certain that the program will not be further enriched in the weeks to come (also because the Palazzo currently remains without a director).
