After its success in Milan, the Cathedral of the Image at Santo Stefano al Ponte in Florence will host from November 1, 2019 to March 1, 2020 the immersive multimedia experience Inside Magritte entirely dedicated to one of the major protagonists of surrealism, René Magritte.
The event is conceived and produced by Crossmedia Group and Hepco under the direction of The Fake Factory and with the support and scientific advice of the Succession Magritte in Brussels.
Curated by Belgian art historian Julie Waseige, Inside Magritte intends to be an itinerary in which the absolute protagonists will be the atmospheres and subjects of his paintings, probably among the best-known images of twentieth-century painting: men in bowler hats floating in the sky of metropolises, human bodies with fish heads, the famous and ambiguous pipe.
A multisensory experiential journey that, for about 50 minutes, will invite visitors to enter Magritte’s surrealist universe: involvement, illusion and allusion will be elements for understanding the artist’s enigmatic world. In fact, inside anexperience-room, the visitor will be able to enjoy a360-degree immersive experience that will involve the space: from the walls to the floor, images of the works will become a single stream of dream, of fluid and dematerialized forms in motifs evocative of Magritte’s art, from his beginnings to his last works. A total of 160 images have been selected to present Magritte’s entire oeuvre. An exceptional visual impact thanks to the Matrix X-Dimension ® system, which makes use of an apparatus of laser projectors, capable of transmitting over 40 million pixels on the surfaces of the installation, guaranteeing greater definition than Full Hd.
