From July 11 to 13, the festival From Sunset to Appia returns. Look at that moon. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the 1969 moon landing, the Appia Antica Archaeological Park is offering a rich program of music, theater and words to be held in the Mausoleum of Cecilia Metella.
Three evening events are planned in mediapartnership with Rai Radio 3: Thursday, July 11 at 9 p.m. All Stars Live! concert by theItalian Institute of Cumbia, led by Davide Toffolo (Three Merry Dead Boys) who will perform together with Malagiunta, Kit Ramos, Cacao Mental, Los3Saltos bringing to the stage the first Italian compilation of contemporary cumbia, a musical genre coming from South America. On Friday, July 12 at 9 p.m. Ascanio Celestini will bring on stage stories from his show Laika, from the little dog that went into space in 1957; at 10 p.m. on the same stage the concert Futuro Remoto tour acoustic set by singer-songwriter Giulio Wilson. Finally, on Saturday, July 13, at 9 p.m. Peppe Servillo will close the event with a reading of passages from Ermanno Cavazzoni ’s novel Il poema dei lunatici, and at 10 p.m. he will perform with Avion Travel with songs from their latest album Privé.
Director of the Appia Antica Archaeological Park, Simone Quilici, will open the festival.
The performances will be free of charge by purchasing the entrance ticket to the monuments or La Mia Appia Card. The combined ticket at a cost of 5 euros is valid for two days for visits to the Mausoleum of Cecilia Metella and the Villa dei Quintili with Santa Maria Nova; La Mia Appia Card, on the other hand, allows free access to the aforementioned monuments and all events organized by the Appia Antica Archaeological Park, costs 10 euros and is valid 365 days from the date of purchase.
The Mausoleum of Cecilia Metella and the medieval church of St. Nicholas in the Castrum Caetani will remain open beyond the usual hours during the festival.
