Sandro Botticelli's Portrait of Giuliano de' Medici from the Carrara Academy will exceptionally go up to the top floor of the PwC Tower in Milan's new CityLife district. The Tower will be open to all for free to admire the painting.

In Milan’s new CityLife district, Sandro Botticelli ’s Portrait of Giuliano de’ Medici will be on display on the top floor of the PwC Tower. The painting, created by Botticelli between 1478 and 1480, is part of the collections of theCarrara Academy in Bergamo, but for the occasion it will be housed at the top of the PwC Tower, as from April 2022 PwC Italia became a co-founder of the Bergamo Foundation. The initiative thus falls within the scope of social activities and the return of value to the territorial communities in which PwC Italia operates, with the aim of enhancing Italy’s artistic and cultural heritage and bringing new generations closer together. On Nov. 26 and 27 and Dec. 3 and 4, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and only for Saturday, Dec. 3, also in the evening from 9 p.m. to 00.00, the PwC Tower, designed by archistar Daniel Libeskind (175 meters high, 31 floors surmounted by the characteristic Corona, with a large glass volume 40 meters high that completes the trend of the whole architectural concept, also inspired by Brunelleschi’s Renaissance dome), for the first time and exceptionally for a cultural initiative, will be open to the public to allow people to admire one of the masterpieces of the Renaissance within an architectural work and then enjoy a splendid view of the city of Milan at a height of 130 meters. Admission to the initiative Sguardi dalla Torre - Botticelli is free of charge and is open to all those who wish to participate after booking through TicketOne (technical sponsor of the project) at the following link bit.ly/booking_pwc_botticelli or on the PwC Italia website www.pwc.com/it/it/about-us/fondazione-accademia-carrara.html, where it will be possible to select the day and time slot in which you wish to make the visit.

Entrance to the PwC Tower will be allowed to groups of 35 people every 15 minutes (you will need to show up at the entrance 15 minutes before your access time).

“Investing in culture means actively participating in the socio-cultural growth of the country. Thanks to the collaboration with Accademia Carrara of Bergamo, we have taken the extraordinary opportunity to host an important work of the Italian Renaissance in the PwC Tower, which is also a work of art, a new protagonist of Milan’s skyline,” commented Giovanni Andrea Toselli, chairman and CEO of PwC Italia. “We therefore open our doors to all those who wish to live a unique experience that links the enjoyment of the work to the possibility of seeing Milan from an unusual perspective. This initiative also fully represents our vision based on the centrality of people and the importance of returning value to the communities in which we operate, bringing to bear the resources and skills that have always characterized our work.”

"PwC Italia’s participation in the life of Accademia Carrara is very important. With the museum temporarily closed for renovations, the exhibition of a Carrara masterpiece in the skyscraper designed by Daniel Libeskind in Milan proposes a marriage of excellence, between painting and architecture," added Maria Cristina Rodeschini, Accademia Carrara director. "Botticelli’s Portrait of Giuliano de’ Medici is an icon of the Florentine Renaissance and of the famous house that in the years of their supremacy promoted culture like few others in Europe. Art in its most shining moments was able to combine beauty and foresight in a wise and cultured interpretation of society."

The initiative Glances from the Tower - Botticelli is part of a much broader path of collaboration born under the banner of cultural heritage enhancement and environmental sustainability, in view of the year of Bergamo - Brescia Italian Capital of Culture 2023. PwC Italia is actively contributing to the deep path of redevelopment and recovery of the 3,000 square meters of garden that can be seen from the Carrara’s windows. In June 2023, the PwC Gardens are scheduled to be opened to the public for the first time, and will become a strategic point for the museum, with the surrounding outdoor areas also accessible.
