Florence, there's a comic strip at the Accademia Gallery to accompany younger visitors

At the Accademia Gallery in Florence, the comic strip 'Neri e Scheggia in Galleria' accompanies young children on a visit to the museum.

A comic strip to bring children closer to art: at the Accademia Gallery in Florence, on October 13 and 14, 2018, tour guides will accompany younger visitors with the comic strip “Neri & Scheggia in Galleria,” a publication specially created by cartoonist Tuono Pettinato, in collaboration with the Accademia Gallery.

Cecilie Hollberg, director of the Gallery, commented, “The comic strip, which is both entertaining and educational, is a project I care about in a special way. In addition to the enhancement of the Gallery’s heritage, my goal is, in fact, to create projects that stimulate in children an interest in figurative culture.”

During the meeting, an operator will guide young visitors to discover the major masterpieces in the museum, through curiosities and anecdotes related to the works and the artists who created them. Sculptures, paintings and precious musical instruments will be the protagonists of this walk through the halls of the museum.

Tours will last 45 minutes with meetings at the Colossus Room at 4 and 5 p.m. The educational service, suitable for children ages 6 to 10, is free and reservations are recommended (tel. 055-294883). Each participant in the activities will be given a free copy of the comic book.
