Five versions of Van Gogh's sunflowers brought together. For an unprecedented "virtual exhibition" on Facebook

On August 14, the 'Van Gogh Sunflowers 360' initiative will take place on Facebook. Five versions of Van Gogh's Sunflowers brought together in a virtual exhibition.

A beautiful initiative will take place next August 14 on... Facebook: five versions of Vincent van Gogh ’s Sunflowers (Zundert, 1853 - Auvers-sur-Oise, 1890), those from the National Gallery in London, the Neue Pinakothek in Munich, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, and the Sompo Museum in Tokyo, will be brought together. Five curators from all the museums will talk, in 15-minute presentations each, about the works in a live broadcast on Facebook. Also participating in the “virtual exhibition,” titled Van Gogh Sunflowers 360, will be Willem van Gogh, a descendant of Theo, the artist’s brother who was the recipient of most of Vincent’s famous letters and was among the few who never left the painter’s side. He will have the role of introducing the narrative.

"Van Gogh’s Sunflowers,“ said Willem himself, ”are works that continue to fascinate and inspire. The virtual gallery and live streaming will ensure, for art lovers young and old, a new way to view these magnificent masterpieces, from all corners of the globe." Those who log on to Facebook will also have the opportunity to view the Sunflowers with special 360-degree videos shot for the occasion. The videos will be available on the pages of each of the five museums, while it will be possible to connect to the live video on August 14, at 6:50 p.m. Italian time (5:50 p.m. in England), on the National Gallery of London’s Facebook page.
