Five Sundays with guided tours to discover the Bardini Museum and Luca Pignatelli's solo exhibition

Until March 25, 2019, there are guided tours to explore the Bardini Museum in Florence and Luca Pignatelli's solo exhibition

On the occasion of Luca Pignatelli ’s monographic exhibition, titled Senza data at the Bardini Museum in Florence, guided tours curated by MUS.E have been organized until March 25, 2019: every Sunday, an additional narrative thread weaves and insinuates itself into the museum’s narrative. The works of Pignatelli (Milan, 1962) fit into the museum setting without any invasiveness, seemingly silent and yet tremendously powerful, timeless icons, precisely, perfect synthesis of an archaeological past, a nineteenth-century taste, and contemporary research. Here is that the visit to the museum and its masterpieces-from Tino di Camaino ’s Charity to Donatello ’s Madonna and Child-will thus be punctuated by works that are new and ancient at the same time, capable of questioning us about the forms and meanings of art. Achille Bonito Oliva had referred to Pignatelli’s works with these words: “Without any need to appear in front of me continuously, they immediately get under the skin of the body and under that of the gaze (the gaze, in fact, also has its own skin) and do not go away [...] Here they are: Pignatelli’s images appear before us as things to look at for a long time, seen in history and then dreamed and remembered and imagined and then dreamed again and finally imprinted forever.”

The itinerary will allow the public to understand in depth the passion that animated the antiquarian and connoisseur Stefano Bardini, appreciating his extraordinary collection, but also to grasp the refined and profound taste of Luca Pignatelli’s works scattered among the rooms, following an itinerary that is precisely “undated”: as the artist points out, “the use of the images I appropriate is a serene and thoughtful way of orienting myself with respect to the time of nature, to the memory that this allows us to contain.”
