From February 11 to 19, 2023, the appointment with Modenantiquaria, an international event dedicated to fine antiques, returns to ModenaFiere. Sponsored by Associazione Antiquari d’Italia and FIMA, Modenantiquaria aims to be the reference event for those seeking excellence in fine antiques and a meeting place for collectors, enthusiasts and art dealers.
Now in its XXXVI edition, the event intends to be an important showcase for the most illustrious galleries in the sector, which often exhibit works that are also unpublished. The quality and value of the exhibited works, in addition to the prestige of the galleries, is further guaranteed and certified by the vetting committee, composed of internationally accredited art historians who examine all exhibits before the opening of the exhibition.
“Paraphrasing a famous phrase by Italo Calvino, an antique never finishes saying what it has to say,” says Pietro Cantore, President of Antiquari Modenesi and Treasurer of the Associazione Antiquari d’Italia, “that’s why I am convinced that the antiques market and Modenantiquaria will continue to be a great success. This exhibition is an important opportunity to continue the dialogue with collectors, especially those of the new generation.”
On Feb. 13 and 14, Modenantiquaria will also host the Fourth Antiques Conference, Antiquarian Future, organized by the Italian Federation of Art Dealers. The conference aims to focus attention on the figure of the Italian antiquarian in the art market in Europe. In the two-day event, the problems of the sector related to the trade of antique works in Italy and Europe will be explored in order to raise the awareness of the institutions towards a rebalancing of the regulations in European countries to guarantee operators the same market conditions. Representatives from European federations in the sector will participate in the conference.
After last year’s success, SCULPTURA, Italian Masterpieces from the 13th to the 20th Century, also returns for its second edition, consolidating its goal as an annual event for collectors and enthusiasts in the sector. Art collectors, designers and experts in search of the unique piece will have here the opportunity to confront the excellence of tradition, great authors and more innovative proposals. This year, thanks to the support of the Associazione Antiquari d’Italia, the project will present a wider and more prestigious selection of works.
As a collateral event, Petra also returns. In a new and scenic setting of more than 3,000 square meters, Petra will offer solutions of all types, tastes and sizes to those who want to furnish, design, or renovate a garden, farmhouse or second home. Leading galleries will offer visitors customized exterior design solutions capable of transforming any space into a unique and original environment. Among works, ideas and materials of the highest quality, anyone will have here the opportunity to shape their space to their taste.
Many major players will bring prestige to Modenantiquaria: from Enrico Gallerie d’Arte to Secol-Art, Iotti Antichità, Galleria Romigioli, Copetti Antiquari e Antichità Giglio, Cantore Galleria Antiquaria to Tiziana Sassoli’s Fondantico, Tornabuoni Arte and Butterfly Institute, as well as Galleria Marletta and Studiolo di Stefano and Guido Cribiori, Mearini Fine Art, Caiati Old Masters, Mirco Cattai, 800/900 Art Studio, Antichità La Pieve, Antichità Giglio, Arcuti Fine Art, and Galleria le Due Torri.
