European Night of Museums at the Paestum Archaeological Park. Initiatives.

On Saturday, May 18, 2019, on the occasion of the European Night of Museums, the Paestum Archaeological Park is offering anextraordinary evening opening with an entrance fee of 1 euro.

Throughout the day the museum venue will organize events, workshops and educational appointments for children, youth and adults. In the evening there will be the opportunity to participate in thematic guided tours.

By adding just 1 euro, visitors will be able to go down into the museum’s storerooms and discover the behind-the-scenes story; in addition, park staff will bring the story of a Lucanian tomb and its trousseau to the stage to introduce the various ways that an archaeological piece falls under the initiative The Museum Behind the Scenes, scheduled every afternoon except Monday.

And still in the archaeological area there will be free guided tours in the Southern Sanctuary, walking the illuminated path leading to the Temple of Neptune and arriving inside the Basilica.

Here is the program for Saturday, May 18:

- Free workshop PAESTUM VIVA - Sounds and Music in Antiquity, 11 am;

- The Museum Behind the Scenes - visits to the storerooms, 3, 4, 5, 6 pm;

- European Night of Museums: special evening opening of the museum and the Southern Sanctuary (Temple of Neptune and Basilica), 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. (last admission 9:50 p.m.) TICKET COST € 1.00.

Initiatives scheduled during the evening:

- MUSEUM: visits The Museum Behind the Scenes from 8 to 9:50 p.m. TICKET COST € 1.00 to be added to the cost of the entrance ticket. Those who have the PAESTUM MIA annual ticket or the ADOPT A BLOCK card to visit the deposits pay only € 1.00. Meet at the Museum ticket office;

- ARCHAEOLOGICAL AREA: Free guided tours of the Temple of Neptune and the Basilica from 8 to 9:50 p.m. Meet at the Main Gate entrance (opposite the Temple of Neptune).
