On Sunday, June 2, 2019, the Municipality of Milan and the Milan Foundation are offering a free admission initiative entitled Musei a Cielo Aperto: an event aimed at revealing to the public the beauties of a city that is never totally discovered.
Architect Mara Servetto will take visitors on a walk of about 30 to 40 minutes through the burial places of famous people who have made the history of Milan, enhancing the historical and artistic heritage preserved in the Monumental Cemetery.
A journey from the Castiglioni to Joe Colombo and Gae Aulenti, which will tell how design builds relationships between the object and the user and between the users themselves. It is also intended to play on the cross-references between classicism and modernity, on the tradition that becomes a legacy to be developed in new forms.
“This is the red thread that binds the figures of Giannino and Achille Castiglioni, Bruno Munari, Gae Aulenti and Joe Colombo, among whose burials and achievements (Golgota, Tomba Bernocchi; Tomba Campari; Edicola Rizzoli) a path unfolds that aims to capture the imperishable dialogue between classical and modern cues,” says Mara Servetto.
Throughout the day, students and graduates of Fondazione Milano (from Civica Scuola di Teatro Paolo Grassi, Civica Scuola di Musica Claudio Abbado and Civica Scuola di Cinema Luchino Visconti) will be involved, welcoming the public with dramatizations, oncerts and short film screenings.
