From October 1 to 24, 2020, Circus Maximo Experience, the immersive augmented and virtual reality tour of Circus Maximus, returns. Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. (last entrance at 5:40 p.m.), the public will be able to relive the history of the largest performing arts building of antiquity.
The initiative is part of Romarama, Roma Capitale’s program of cultural events, and is promoted by Roma Capitale, Assessorato alla Crescita culturale - Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali, organized by Zètema Progetto Cultura and realized by GS NET Italia and Inglobe Technologies. The scientific direction is by the Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali.
Through augmented and virtual reality, visitors will be able to totally immerse themselves in the history of the archaeological site, thanks to the architectural and landscape reconstructions that have taken place in all its historical phases: from the first and simple wooden construction to the splendor of the imperial age, from the Middle Ages to the first decades of the 20th century. The ancient Murcia Valley with numerous constructions will be visible, one will stroll through the Circus among the workshops of the time, witnessing a chariot race amid shouts of incitement and chariot overturns, and finally marvel at the imposing Arch of Titus, some twenty meters high, reconstructed in augmented reality and full scale.
The narration is available in Italian (with the voices of actors Claudio Santamaria and Iaia Forte), English, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Chinese and Japanese.
The immersive visit will last about 40 minutes, will be itinerant and will take place within thearchaeological area on a route of eight stages, using specific viewers. In compliance with anti Covid-19 security measures, each visitor will be given, individually bagged, disposable earphones and a breather visor on which to place the special visor. There will also be a quota entrance to the area (maximum 7-8 people per 15 minutes).
Tickets can be pre-purchased online at www.circomaximoexperience.it, but can also be purchased directly at the ticket office. There will be reduced admission for MIC card holders and free admission for Roma Pass holders.
In case of rain, the multimedia experience will not be possible.
