Christmas in the Museums is back in Rome: a rich program of exhibitions and educational activities for the holiday season

From December 23, 2023 to January 7, 2024, the traditional appointment of Christmas in the Museums returns, the cultural offer of the Sistema Musei di Roma Capitale aimed at welcoming visitors of all ages with a rich program of exhibitions and educational activities. The initiative is promoted by Roma Capitale, Assessorato alla Cultura - Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali with the organization of Zètema Progetto Cultura.

During the festive period it will therefore be possible to get to know and rediscover the permanent collections and temporary exhibitions housed both in the main museums for a fee (Musei Capitolini, Centrale Montemartini, Museo dell’Ara Pacis, Mercati di Traiano - Museo dei Fori Imperiali, Museo di Roma a Palazzo Braschi, Musei di Villa Torlonia, Museo di Roma in Trastevere, Galleria d’Modern Art, Civic Museum of Zoology) as well as in the small museums with free admission (Giovanni Barracco Museum of Ancient Sculpture, Carlo Bilotti Museum - Villa Borghese Orangery, Museum of the Walls, Napoleonic Museum, Pietro Canonica Museum in Villa Borghese, Museum of the Roman Republic and Garibaldi’s Memory, Museum of Casal de’ pazzi, Villa di Massenzio).

All the Civic Museums are open on December 24 and 31 until 2 p.m., and on January 1, 2024 according to the Capodarte program. They remain closed on December 25.

Admission to the Sistema Musei di Roma Capitale is always free for MIC Roma Card holders, except for the exhibitions Helmut Newton. Legacy at the Ara Pacis Museum, Phidias at the Capitoline Museums, the immersive tour of the Circus Maximus in augmented and virtual reality Circus Maximo Experience and the shows at the Planetarium of Rome, for which reduced tickets are provided instead.
