On March 18, 19 and 20, Canova, the sixth installment of Magnitudo Film’s L’arte al cinema cycle, will be shown in cinemas. The film traces the life of Antonio Canova, a master of Neoclassicism considered the last world-class Italian artist, starting from his formative years in Venice, through his sojourns in countries such as France, England and Russia, to the city of Rome, but never leaving his hometown of Possagno.
Thanks to 8K HDR filming techniques, the documentary reveals little-known details and, above all, shows Canova’s own point of view told from the voices of those who know his masterpieces perfectly well, Vittorio Sgarbi, president from the Canova Foundation in Possagno, and Mario Guderzo, director Museo e Gipsoteca Antonio Canova in Possagno.
Canova, it was said, is the penultimate appointment of the cycle L’arte al cinema, whose first appointments were Bernini, Dinosaurs, Mathera, Leonardo Cinquecento and Wunderkammer - Le stanze della meraviglia.
