The third edition of the Brescia Photo Festival, an international photography review under the artistic direction of Renato Corsini, will be held in Brescia from Thursday, May 2 to Sunday, May 5, 2019.
Promoted by the Municipality of Brescia, Fondazione Brescia Musei and Ma.Co.f. - Center of Italian Photography, it will explore for four days multiple aspects of the vast feminine universe by placing side by side the gaze of great artists of photography from the 19th century to the present (from Man Ray to Robert Mapplethorpe, from Vanessa Beecroft to Francesca Woodman, from Julia Margaret Cameron to Mihaela Noroc and Elisabetta Catalano) reflections and unpublished projects that investigate the complexity of the feminine in contemporary society.
10 venues, totaling 4,000sqm of exhibition space, in the historic center of Brescia and the province will host 19 exhibitions (including thematic, monographic and one-off shows, mostly original productions) that will cross the festival’s temporal boundaries and continue through the summer; talks with artists; workshops; concerts; film screenings and guided tours. Brescia’s art galleries, bookstores and libraries will also be involved with projects on the theme: in fact, the festival also aims to be a time of celebration to explore the extraordinary artistic and architectural heritage of the Lombard capital and its territory.
“Fondazione Brescia Musei renews, with the third edition, the format of the Photo Festival realizing a real city photographic invasion of great quality and in line with the ideas at the center of the debate of the international agenda, public opinion and the media,” says Stefano Karadjov, new director of Fondazione Brescia Musei, “a Festival adventure not to be missed concentrated in a weekend of events and parties but that will continue, until late September, with the holding of exhibitions for a summer full of images.”
