The seventh edition of Fruit Exhibition, Bologna’s art publishing fair, will be held on the first weekend of February (Feb. 1 to 3) at Palazzo Isolani. The event will feature 100 of the best independent publishers from Italy and abroad and a rich program of lectures, workshops, exhibitions and installations. This year’s edition will focus on humor, considered a life force that goes beyond form and styles.
New this year is the FIP - Fruit Indie Publishing award, promoted by Fruit Exhibition in collaboration with the historic Favini paper mill, an award aimed at the best independent publishing projects with the aim of bringing this sector to the fore. To participate, artists and publishers must submit by March 15, 2019 an unpublished publishing project, in digital format, that investigates the theme of humor and stands out for technical and formal research in relation to content.
Space also for Cronòtopo the narrative of the library through art, a project created by Cosimo Veneziano during his residency in the city of Bologna. It is a series of posters and bookmarks made for the historic Bologna library Salaborsa that will be exhibited to celebrate its anniversary.
Workshops include Indie Paper with Edizioni del Frisco and Francesco Ciaponi, focusing on the phenomenon of the resurgence of independent magazines, and Art Tattoo Shop with Erik Kessels and Chantal Rens, where participants can create images and collages with the two Danish artists.
