Everything is ready for the 13th edition of ArtVerona, the Verona-based modern and contemporary art fair that has the very specific aim of promoting Italian art, scheduled for Oct. 13-16.
The theme of this edition is "Viaggio in Italia #backtoitaly, " a theme that underlines the Italian vocation of the Verona fair and its desire to support artists and the market that represents them to extend to museums, as the natural conclusion of a path that begins with gallery scouting.
There are 140 galleries selected, 35 participating in the event for the first time, 14 are new independents, 20 in the publishing sector, 480 pairs of Italian and foreign VIP collectors hosted in the city, 30 more than in 2016.
There are 5 exhibition sections, however: Grand Tour and Scouting, new this year, Main Section, Raw Zone and 8-independent spaces.
The Verona fair will also have “fuori salone” events, i.e., exhibitions that will be inaugurated during the fair but will extend beyond the dates of the fair: at the A. Forti-Palazzo della Ragione in Verona there will be the exhibition "My Body in Time. Lüthi, Ontani, Opalka," which, curated byAdriana Polveroni and Patrizia Nuzzo, will run until Jan. 28, 2018, and will investigate the concept of time and its unveiling in the body through the paths and works of the three artists, while the Museo di Castelvecchio will host the exhibition "Iconoclash. The Conflict of Images," curated by Antonio Grulli in collaboration with collectors Diego Bergamaschi and Marco Martini (they have renamed themselves"Eddy Merckx"), whose themes of iconophilia and iconoclasm will run until Jan. 7.
Hours: Friday, Oct. 13 from 11 a.m. reserved opening, 2 p.m. public opening until 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 14 to Sunday, Oct. 15 from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Ticket price: full daily 15 euros, reduced daily 8 euros.
