Archaeology at the Uffizi: summer evening lecture series coming soon

Every Wednesday evening from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. between June and September 2018, the lecture series Archaeology at the Uffizi Galleries will be held.

Every Wednesday evening from June 6 to September 29, 2018, a lecture will be held at the Uffizi Galleries, specifically in theVasari Auditorium, as part of the"Archaeology at the Uffizi" series of meetings.

A series of lectures, each from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., dedicated to the ancient collections that have been preserved for centuries in the Vasari spaces.

The meetings are part of an agreement signed a few months ago for close scientific and promotional collaboration between the Uffizi and the National Archaeological Museum.

The lectures “will be attended by leading experts in Florentine antiquities collecting. The topics addressed will range from Etruscan to Egyptian art, touching on the vicissitudes of famous masterpieces, which, like the Chimera, were guests of the Uffizi for centuries, or aspects little known to Florentines and visitors, such as the archaeological past of the Vasari complex,” said Fabrizio Paolucci, curator of classical art and coordinator of scientific activities of the Uffizi Galleries.

Introducing the series of talks will be Gabriel Zuchtriegel, director of the Paestum Archaeological Park, who will speak about the Tomb of the Diver, while it will conclude with Eva degli Innocenti, director of the National Museum of Taranto, who will talk about the CustodianAthlete at the latter venue.

Wednesday’s lectures will be joined by Tuesday’s"Uffizi Live" events.
