The art of Fernando Botero (Medellín, 1932) comes to the cinema: from January 20, 2020, the documentary entitled Botero. An Endless Quest, directed by Don Millar.
The film was shot in ten cities between China, Europe, New York and Colombia, and videos and family photos from decades ago were also provided, with the intention of presenting a profound and thought-provoking portrait of the celebrated Colombian artist. For its realization, the director has been in close contact with the artist and the latter’s family, particularly his children, in order to acquaint viewers with the assumptions and facts behind Botero’s artistic activity and his robust figures, protagonists in all his works, pushing back to his roots.
In addition, Don Millar relied on art critics, curators, historians and academics to reveal to the audience the creativity and convictions of one of the most beloved personalities in the contemporary art sphere. Indeed, the artist counts numerous monographic exhibitions that have attracted millions of visitors.
Through an intimate conversation with the artist and his children, the documentary stands as an unprecedented work.
