A rich program of events from dawn to the stars at the Valley of the Temples

Guided tours, shows and initiatives continue in Agrigento’s Valley of the Temples Park: in fact, from June to September 2019 there are many events scheduled as part of A Mythical Summer - Itineraries and Shows from Dawn to the Stars.

From July 14 to September 15, every day at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., the Park offers a tour itinerary dedicated to the educational exhibition Building for the Gods. The Building Site in the Classical World: the most significant aspects related totemple architecture will be discovered through reproductions of machinery, tools, scaffolding, towing systems, anchoring, transportation and much more, arranged along a route that winds through the main archaeological monuments. From the Temple of Juno, the various stages of temple construction will be illustrated; other sections of the exhibition will be devoted to methods of finishing individual lithic partitions and the transition from Doric architecture in wood to stone.
The cost of the guided tour is 10 euros + the entrance fee. The ticket is free for children under the age of 12.

UNDERGROUND ROUTES TO THE VALLEY OF THE TEMPLES
June 1 to Sept. 15 (dates on calendar)
A tour dedicated to the exploration of particular structures that can be traced back to the necropolis activity of the first Christian communities in Agrigento.

LIGHTS IN VALLEY
from July 14 to September 22 (dates on calendar)
All the beauty of the archaeological remains of the Valley of the Temples revealed by the glow of the moon and the light from the special light necklaces provided to each visitor.

VISIT THE TEMPLE OF THE CONCORDIA
from July 14 to Sept. 15 (dates on calendar)
A never-before-seen tour inside the Greek Temple unique in the Mediterranean for its state of preservation: a unique experience to grasp up close the magnificence of Sicily’s Greek architecture.

THE SPECTACLE OF DAWN. GODS AND HEROES AT THE VALLEY OF THE TEMPLES. THEATRALIZED VISITS

A true emotional spectacle set in the beautiful natural setting of the Valley of the Temples, where every day the landscape of the Sicilian countryside artfully blends with archaeology.

THE PATH OF THE GODS

The tour route is dedicated to the main monuments that constitute the most representative vestiges of the entire Valley of the Temples.

CANTU PI ROSA

Journey through the life and song of Rosa Balistreri. Performance by the Compagnia Popolare Aromi di Sicilia of Cattolica Eraclea. Directed by Franco Colletti. Free participation; maximum 300 participants

THE NIGHTS OF ARCHAEOLOGY_PART 1: A CONCERT AT THE EKKLESIASTERION OF THE PIETRO GRIFFO MUSEUM
Aug. 4, from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m.
For The Nights of Archaeology exclusive educational tour by expert archaeologists focusing on theekklesiasterion, unique architecture within the Hellenistic Sicelian landscape. Followed by a concert by the Magnificat Liturgical Choir of Aragon.

SUNSET WALKS.FROM THE GRIFFO MUSEUM TO THE TEMPLE OF THE CONCORDIA
from Aug. 05 to Aug. 26.
A special tour aimed at conveying a complete understanding of the context, departing from the Pietro Griffo Regional Archaeological Museum in Agrigento and arriving at the Temple of Concordia

THE TRUE STORY OF THE BARONESS OF CARINI
Aug. 23, 10 p.m. Archaeological Area Eraclea Minoa
Theatrical performance by the Compagnia Popolare Aromi di Sicilia of Cattolica Eraclea. One-act play loosely based on the musical by Tony Cucchiara. Directed by Franco Colletti. Free participation; maximum 300 participants

THE NIGHTS OF ARCHAEOLOGY_PART 2: A CONCERT AT THE EKKLESIASTERION OF THE PIETRO GRIFFO MUSEUM
Sept. 1, from 9:30 to 10:30 p.m.
On the occasion of The Nights of Archaeology, the evocative spiritual harmonies of the Magnificat Liturgical Choir will spread to St. Nicholas Hill from the setting of theekklesiasterion, an archaeological context rich in religious and civic sacredness.
