A documentary shows a preview of the Reggia di Venaria's major exhibition dedicated to challenging the Baroque


Ahead of the official opening, the Reggia di Venaria presents a video documentary on the major exhibition Challenge to the Baroque.

At the Reggia di Venaria, the exhibition Sfida al Barocco. Rome Turin Paris 1680 - 1750, featuring more than two hundred masterpieces from the world’s most important museums and collections, including the National Academy of San Luca, the National Galleries of Palazzo Barberini and Galleria Corsini, the Louvre and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, but the health emergency has not yet made its opening possible. It is an exhibition that aims to recount the challenge of artists in the name of modernity through the experimentation of new forms and new languages elaborated between 1680 and 1750, between Rome and Paris.

An exhibition itinerary that is intended as a quest toward modern identity, with ancient fables depicted in history paintings, sacred tales in altarpieces, seduction and grace in sculptures and paintings, the design of spectacular architectural models and the precious refinement of furnishings and ornaments.



In anticipation of being able to visit the exhibition live, set up in the spaces of the Reggia’s Citroniera Juvarriana, on Friday, May 15, at 6 p.m., it will be possible to see, on the museum’s Facebook page, a live preview of the documentary about the exhibition: a closed-door tour of the layout and the masterpieces on display, in the company of curators Michela di Macco and Giuseppe Dardanello. The video documentary was produced by Punto Rec Studios and produced by the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation and the 1563 Foundation for Art and Culture of the Compagnia di San Paolo.

The full documentary will be available at lavenaria.it and on the Reggia’s YouTube channel from Saturday, May 16.
