From Aug. 25 to Sept. 2, 2018, the city of Rome will host the first edition of the traveling festival Beyond the River.

From August 25 to September 2, 2018, Rome will be the scene of the first edition of Di Là Dal Fiume, a traveling festival that will bring a rich program of contemporary music, poetry, theater and video installations between Ponte Testaccio, Trastevere station and Porta Portese.

Fourteen events with free admission will be held in eleven locations in the 12th City Hall: it will begin on August 25 with the performance “Journey to Mars” by Gabriel Maldonado, who will soundtrack the film of the same name by Holger-Madesen (1918); the artist will play on the roof of a double-decker bus on Ponte Testaccio.



For Aug. 26, an Urban Walk through the neighborhood starting from the former Trastevere Station with journalist and sociologist Irene Ranaldi and the President of the Cultural Association Ottavo Colle is scheduled in the morning; during the opening hours of the Porta Portese market, composer and pianist Antonello Neri will improvise his “Suite 5” on a grand piano.

On Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. there will be a concert for viola and guitar by Maurizio Barbetti and Francesco Cuoghi, who will play music by John Cage and Brian Eno in the lobby of Trastevere Station; while on Aug. 28 at 8 p.m. will be staged “Psyche’s Journey,” written and narrated by Roman artist Sista Bramini, with original music by Giovanna Natalini.

Scheduled for Aug. 29 is “GAMMM: reading prose and poetry,” at the artist atelier I.N.F.I.N.I.T.O.curated by Marco Giovenale, Michele Zaffarano and Mariangela Guatteri, while on Thursday 30 from 6 p.m. a concert “Along the river” by Mike Cooper, guitarist, singer, writer and filmmaker, will be held on the riverfront.

On Aug. 31 at 7:30 p.m. at the OFF Living Room meeting with Nanni Balestrini who, together with writer Marco Giovenale, will speak about his work, discussing the relationship between literary avant-garde and social movements, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of ’68.

For Saturday, Sept. 1, a performance of extemporaneous painting by Giancarlino Benedetti Corcos and Adelaide Innocenti, while at 5:30 p.m. on it will be possible to participate in the naturalistic pedaling along the Tiber River, accompanied by the geologist Umberto Pessolano, organized by Ti con Zero and the Lucos Cozza Bicycle Library.At 7 p.m., meeting on the Tiber River with Tiber Consortium president Giuseppe Amendola, director Carlo Quartucci and professor Paolo Coteni, while at 9 p.m. Teatroinscatola will present an unreleased concert with Luca Venitucci on music by Alvin Curran, an exponent of free improvisation.

The events will conclude on Sept. 2 at 9 p.m. with an electronic music concert by Luca Spagnoletti and Federico Placidi; along the way, sound painter Paolo Coteni’s multimedia installation "Sinfonia per un fiume solo. Roman polyphony (Tiber).
