Vincenzo Marsiglia (Belvedere Marittimo, 1972), one of the leading exponents of digital art, is the protagonist of an exhibition at the Spazio Cappella Marchi in Seravezza: from Aug. 5 to 27, the ancient house of worship will host the exhibition Alchemy of Light, curated by Lorenzo Belli with the collaboration of Beatrice Audrito. This is the third event of the 2023 art season at Spazio Cappella Marchi, run by Alkedo aps, which is distinguished by its dialogue between classical settings and new languages of contemporary art. Vincenzo Marsiglia designed specifically for this exhibition a light structure consisting of a single blue neon, made of blown Murano glass, in the shape of a four-pointed star that is positioned within the architecture of the church.
A multifaceted author, Marseille starts from the stylistic unity of a simple, almost primitive graphic symbol, which is declined by means of ever-changing techniques, becoming almost an iconic pretext for experimenting with the surrounding and all its possibilities. Guiding his research is the continuous formulation of the four-pointed star, which is defined as the measure of all things, reproduced on surfaces or, as in this case, placed suspended in space. Marseille’s works offer the possibility of isolating light in the air so as to perceive its depth, the third dimension in space. Light affects the environment as a sign of the present, so the work Prospect dialogues with the dynamic traces of the church and the effects of time on it, on the ancient walls of Baroque architecture, as a reminder of the inevitable sunset. The environment as a means of inspiring and enhancing the work of art re-proposes the problem of contextualizing art: a place where architecture and light can merge and transform continuously over time, adapting to the viewer’s point of view and his process of cognition.
The exhibition, organized by Alkedo aps in collaboration with Galleria Giovanni Bonelli, with the support of the Fondazione Terre Medicee and under the patronage of the Municipality of Seravezza.
It can be visited with free admission from Thursday to Sunday during the hours of 6-10 p.m.
