There were 374 applicants for On-Site, the call for artist residencies announced as part of Lunigiana Land Art, scheduled from March to July 2022 in 12 Lunigiana municipalities. In the end, the jury, composed of Chiara Agradi, Matteo Balduzzi, Nicolas Ballario and Elisa Medde, chose six artists, working in different mediums and with different sensibilities in the contemporary art world.
The selected artists are: as individual artists, Rachele Maistrello, Laura Pugno, Ilaria Turba; as collectives, Marco Loi and Giacomo Bianco, Fotoromanzo Italiano (Andrea Botto, Federica Chiocchetti, Giorgio Barrera) and Polisonum (Filippo Lilli and Donato Loforese). They are tasked with moving to ’inhabit’ and work in the municipalities of Bagnone, Casola, Comano, Filattiera, Licciana Nardi, and Tresana.
In parallel, selections remain open for the production workshop with Mario Cresci scheduled March 18-20 in Fosdinovo for the creation of works that can offer the area a renewed visual identity. Selections will soon open for the other free On-Site workshops led by Tom Lovelace, Marina Caneve, CESURA, Felicity Hammond and Jacopo Benassi in the other 6 Lunigiana municipalities. Objective: to propose themselves as other production spaces to compete together with artist residencies in the production of 12 works and projects useful to tell and enhance the territory as a permanent laboratory for artistic production. All information is and will be available through the website, newsletter and e-mail workshop@lunigianalandart.it. The first, dedicated to artists under 35 working with visual or graphic arts, already published with its program, will close on Sunday, March 20 at the Audiovisual Museum of Resistance.
Meanwhile, the opening of Lunigiana Land Art is approaching, scheduled for Thursday, March 17 at 6:30 p.m. in Fosdinovo at Albergo La Castellana with Mario Cresci. It will be a conversation with the artist aimed at reasoning around the relationships, existing and not, between land and contemporary art. Reservations are already open at the link: https://lunigiana-land-art-mario-cresci-fosdinovo.eventbrite.it. It will be followed by: Saturday, April 2, the meeting with Ilaria Turba, on Casola; Sunday, April 10, the vernissage of the 4 artists called by invitation to be in residence in Comano for Comano Land Art.
Lunigiana Land Art is a winner of the public notice Borghi in Festival promoted by the General Directorate for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture. It is proposed as an occasion of encounter between territory and art, under the sign of an exchange between different disciplines such as photography, music, sculpture, performance. It is accompanied by workshops for children, guided tours, meetings-experience. By next week the entire program will be online.
