The winners of the artist residencies announced as part of Lunigiana Land Art, the winning project of the public notice Borghi in Festival promoted by the MiC's General Directorate for Contemporary Creativity.

There were 374 applicants for On-Site, the call for artist residencies announced as part of Lunigiana Land Art, scheduled from March to July 2022 in 12 Lunigiana municipalities. In the end, the jury, composed of Chiara Agradi, Matteo Balduzzi, Nicolas Ballario and Elisa Medde, chose six artists, working in different mediums and with different sensibilities in the contemporary art world.

The artists

The selected artists are: as individual artists, Rachele Maistrello, Laura Pugno, Ilaria Turba; as collectives, Marco Loi and Giacomo Bianco, Fotoromanzo Italiano (Andrea Botto, Federica Chiocchetti, Giorgio Barrera) and Polisonum (Filippo Lilli and Donato Loforese). They are tasked with moving to ’inhabit’ and work in the municipalities of Bagnone, Casola, Comano, Filattiera, Licciana Nardi, and Tresana.

In parallel, selections remain open for the production workshop with Mario Cresci scheduled March 18-20 in Fosdinovo for the creation of works that can offer the area a renewed visual identity. Selections will soon open for the other free On-Site workshops led by Tom Lovelace, Marina Caneve, CESURA, Felicity Hammond and Jacopo Benassi in the other 6 Lunigiana municipalities. Objective: to propose themselves as other production spaces to compete together with artist residencies in the production of 12 works and projects useful to tell and enhance the territory as a permanent laboratory for artistic production. The first, dedicated to artists under 35 working with visual or graphic arts, already published with its program, will close on Sunday, March 20 at the Audiovisual Museum of Resistance.
