On the occasion of the French National Day reception, French Ambassador to Italy Christian Masset announced that the Complesso Monumentale della Pilotta in Parma will host a major exhibition on Christian Boltanski (Paris, 1944 - 2021), in collaboration with the French Embassy. The artist, among the big names in contemporary art, known for shaping the Museum for the Memory of Ustica in Bologna (his is the art installation made with the wreckage of the Dc-9 Itavia), passed away a year ago, on July 14, 2021, and the Parma exhibition promises to be the first major exhibition dedicated to him since his passing.
It will be curated by Annalisa Rimmaudo, who is in charge of the conservation of the contemporary art collections at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and will be produced in collaboration with the artist’s Estate, Agence Eva Albarran, and galerie Marian Goodman.
According to the announcement, it will be a journey through the works that have marked his career and the history of art over the past fifty years. Although it will be a difficult task to exhibit in the absence of the artist’s own curatorship, as he has made each retrospective a creation in itself over the past twenty years.
The exhibition is scheduled for spring 2023.
