Forgotten project by Vincenzo Agnetti and Paolo Scheggi rediscovered. It will be presented in the exhibition

In September, a forgotten project by Vincenzo Agnetti and Paolo Scheggi, which the two artists made together, will be presented at the Museo del Novecento in Milan. The discovery comes after a year and a half of study and research.

Important results are coming from research by thePaolo Scheggi Archive Association and theVincenzo Agnetti Archive, which, after a year and a half of study, will return to the public, fifty years after its conception in Milan in 1971, a hitherto unpublished artistic project by Vincenzo Agnetti (Milan, 1926 - 1981) and Paolo Scheggi (Florence, 1940 - 1971), entitled Il Tempio. The Birth of Eidos. The project will have its international premiere at the Museo del Novecento in Milan on Sept. 7, 2021, in an exhibition (through Feb. 22, 2022) curated by the Vincenzo Agnetti Archive and the Paolo Scheggi Archive Association, Bruno Corà and Ilaria Bignotti, and in collaboration with the Istituto Centrale per la Grafica in Rome as the first stage of a traveling exhibition that will touch other Italian and international cities and research and exhibition centers.

Agnetti and Scheggi’s visionary contemporary project consists of architectural drawings, sketches and notes relating to a Temple container of linguistic objects depicting primary forms of the social, subjectivity and power, related to the artistic and theoretical research the two artists were then conducting. Accompanying the project is the edition of a valuable limited edition Folder, containing a fine reproduction of the most significant plates of the project, published by the Stamperia dell’Istituto Centrale per la Grafica in Rome, a museum body of international importance created to preserve, protect and promote a heritage of works documenting graphic art in its different typologies.

Completing the project is a monograph, published by Forma Edizioni, with essays by Bruno Corà, Ilaria Bignotti, Cosima Scheggi, and Germana Agnetti for the Agnetti and Scheggi Archives, Matteo Maria Borsoi and Lucia Ghedin for the Central Institute for Graphics, and with a very rich selection of archival materials, to delve into the two artists’ four-handed project and the context in which it was developed.

On display in Milan from September will be a selection of the project’s original drawings, together with iconographic, photographic and archival material, the Folder and the monograph.
