At the Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria the work for peace by Ukrainian Aljosha

Two artists, one Russian and one Ukrainian, and universal message: at the National Archaeological Museum in Reggio Calabria here is Blooming Skin of Brain Paradise by Aljosha, a Ukrainian artist, who worked together with Ilya, a Russian.

A message of universal peace took shape on the terrace of the National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria (MArRC) with the unveiling of Blooming Skin of Brain Paradise by Aljosha, a Ukrainian artist, who worked together with Ilya, from Russia, to present the work uniting their visions in a creation capable of breaking down cultural and political barriers (on Finestre Sull’Arte we had already talked in detail about the work Blooming Skin of Brain Paradise: read an in-depth discussion here).

The installation, a fusion of tradition and innovation, mind and nature, aims to narrate the complexity of life and celebrate humanity in its diversity. It is a work that comes at a time in history marked by division and conflict, but one that demonstrates how artistic dialogue can generate beauty and understanding. At the heart of the message is the possibility of building bridges where walls exist, a theme as universal as it is urgent.

The MArRC as a crossroads of art and culture

The work finds its ideal setting on the Monumental Piacentini Staircase of the MArRC, a space that amplifies the emotional and symbolic charge of the installation. The experience is further enriched by live musical accompaniment and an evocative play of light, elements that emphasize the interaction between the work and the museum’s architecture, between ancient and contemporary.

The event is an integral part of a larger project that aims to enhance the artistic and cultural heritage of Calabria. In this way, the MArRC aims to confirm itself as a place where past and present engage in fruitful dialogue, thanks to programming that aims to integrate the evidence of antiquity with modern artistic expressions. Blooming Skin of Brain Paradise becomes a symbol of hope and, at the same time, an opportunity to make known the identity of an area rich in history and innovation.

The initiative was realized in Reggio Calabria thanks to the willingness of Fabrizio Sudano, director of the MArRC, the will of Luca Perna, creative director of Artshares, Ghislain Mayoud, curator of the exhibition, Michele Geria, producer of the Baobei film company, and Gianluca Gargano, director of the documentary that will be made about the work.

During the Christmas season, the National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria also offers a unique opportunity to visit its collections, thanks to a special calendar of openings. On Dec. 25, the museum will be closed, while on Jan. 1 it will be open overtime, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. On Jan. 5, admission will be free with continuous hours from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Jan. 6 will follow the same hours with regular ticketing. It will thus be possible to see during the holidays Blooming Skin of Brain Paradise, which is not just an installation: it is a hymn to hope and a call to build a future based on inclusion and harmony. The synergy between the artists Aljosha and Ilya, between different cultures and between the past and the present, finds in Reggio Calabria another venue.
