After the great success of the special La Sicilia di Montalbano, Alberto Angela returns to prime time with a new edition of Ulysses, the pleasure of discovery. Starting Monday, April 7 at 9:30 p.m. on Rai 1, Rai Cultura presents four Ulysses specials dedicated to great people of the past and the history of unique places.
The first appointment, Van Gogh - The Colors of Eternity, will air Monday, April 7 in prime time on Rai 1. Everything has been said about Vincent van Gogh, but who was he really? Alberto Angela will guide the audience to discover the painter who enchanted the world with his vibrant brushstrokes and the unmistakable light of his works. By retracing the places that marked his life and his overwhelming creativity in his later years, they will try to understand how his greatest masterpieces came into being.
The second episode, scheduled for Monday, April 14, will take viewers on a musical journey through London. Twelve stops in the British capital will be paired with as many songs by legendary artists, including the Beatles, David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, and Amy Winehouse. A tale that will reveal the city through the notes of those who made it immortal.
Next, Ulysses will travel to Istanbul to reconstruct the story of Lucrezia Borgia. In a city suspended between Europe and Asia, among sultans, emperors, concubines and viziers, the portrait of one of the most controversial women of the Renaissance will emerge. Daughter of a pope and sister of an unscrupulous condottiere, Lucrezia was a skilled politician and diplomat. But how much truth is there in her dark legend?
Ulysses, the pleasure of discovery is written by Alberto Angela with Fabio Buttarelli, Luca Di Ciaccio, Vito Lamberti, Aldo Piro and Emilio Quinto. It is edited by Alessia Casaldi and Sara Signoretti, with Caterina Del Papa as executive producer and Anna Maria Tiberi as project leader. Direction is by Gabriele Cipollitti.
