Aired tonight at 9 p.m. on the YouTube channel of the City of Massa is a new show dedicated to Gigi Guadagnucci (Massa, 1915 - 2013), an important 20th-century sculptor whose works created virtuosic marble poems. The performance, entitled Gigi Guadagnucci. L’ho sussurrato al marmo in un orecchio, is a reading by Versilian actress and author Elisabetta Salvatori, created around the figure of the Apuan artist: several of his works are preserved at the museum that bears his name, the Guadagnucci Museum in Massa, where it is possible to admire many of his major masterpieces.
Elisabetta Salvatori’s show puts together the story that the author herself was developing on the museum’s Facebook page as part of the initiative Piccoli musei narranti (promoted by the National Association of Small Museums) and the schedule that the Teatro di Servi di Massa, in collaboration with Fondazione Toscana Spettacolo, has structured for the second ’still’ in 2020.
Elisabetta Salvatori has therefore activated a path of “archaeology” of memory aimed at digging through written and oral sources to bring out the life, character and imprint of Gigi Guadagnucci as a man. It is a project that through empathy allows the community to establish a relationship with its museum of reference and at the same time activates a process of “humanization” of the Massese artist’s sculptures.
