The new episode of Art Night to be aired on Friday, March 25, opens with a documentary on Emilio Vedova that traces the great painter's human and artistic story through the pages of his diaries.

OnFriday, March 25, 2022, a new episode of Art Night, the program hosted by Neri Marcorè, by Silvia De Felice and Emanuela Avallone, Massimo Favia, Alessandro Rossi, and directed by Andrea Montemaggiori, will be aired in first view on Rai5 at 9:15 pm.

The evening opens with the documentary Emilio Vedova. Dalla parte del naufragio, which traces the great painter’s human and artistic story through the pages of his diaries, rare archival materials and valuable contributions from artists, curators, collaborators and friends. The narrative is punctuated by the fundamental passages of the political, social and art history of the 20th century and, against the backdrop of an almost ethereal Venice, restores, thanks to Toni Servillo ’s performance and the almost personal and direct dialogue with Vedova, the profound personality and powerful trait of one of the most significant artists of the 20th century. It is a production of the Emilio and Annabianca Vedova Foundation and Twin Studio. With Toni Servillo, written and directed by Tomaso Pessina.

Art Night continues with Speciale Lucio Amelio - Terrae Motus. Neapolitan gallerist, Lucio Amelio tells his story and is told. The director of the documentary, shot in 1993, is Mario Martone, who describes today his relationship with Amelio and with Naples, the city that was the scene of the history of both. Amelio’s Gallery was a meeting point for international artists (Beuys, Rauschemberg, Merz, Warhol) whom he brought to show the most authentic Naples, while also involving young people like Martone and Servillo to whom he generously offered his view of the city and the world.

When the earthquake hit the city in the 1980s, Amelio appealed to art, calling together the artist friends he invited to create a work dedicated to that tragic event: the Terrae Motus collection was born. Today the collection is housed in the rooms of the Reggia di Caserta to which it was donated, and it is precisely the Reggia’s management that is working on a new display in which the Bourbon palace’s past dialogues with contemporary art.
