It was precisely at the beginning of the eighteenth century that one of the discoveries that would forever change the history of archaeology was made here: the ancient Roman theater that remained submerged for centuries by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. After exploring this underground site, you will arrive at the Roman city of Herculaneum. Last stop will be the Pietrarsa National Railway Museum, with some of the most beautiful artifacts related to the history of the Italian railroad. Actor and director Lello Arena will tell some anecdotes about Villa Campolieto, while actor Remo Girone will bring to life the famous architect Luigi Vanvitelli. From the treasures of Campania we will finally go to Umbria: to Spoleto Cathedral with its frescoes by Filippo Lippi. The Spoleto night will see a meeting with Uto Ughi, with whom Alberto Angela will converse about the enchantment of music. The famous violinist will also offer the notes of Beethoven. Another stop will be Todi with its Piazza Del Popolo and the perfect harmony between secular and religious buildings. Here, with actor Giulio Scarpati, its protesting poet, Jacopone, will come to life, while the church of Santa Maria della Consolazione will be admired from above. Finally, it will be Spello that will reveal its Roman walls with the monumental Porta Venere and the Baglioni Chapel, frescoed in 1501 in the church of Santa Maria Maggiore, an absolute masterpiece of Pinturicchio.
