Back tonight, for the fourth edition, in prime time on Rai1 Danza con me, the show that brings Roberto Bolle’s dance to TV.
“Never as in a moment like this,” declares the étoile, “have we been convinced of the importance of being there. In a terrible time when the show, art and the world are paralyzed, held hostage by fear, I like to think of Danza con Me as a trench of resistance, where we guard and defend Art and beauty, while waiting for the chance to take back our spaces.Art is life, it is the guardian of our better humanity, it is the push that reminds us of what we are and makes us see what we could and will be able to become again, to think, to create. Art and performance are refreshment for the soul and the spirit. It is important not to forget this and it was important to give a strong signal in this regard. Let it be a suspended time, but one that one does not have to get used to.”
Danza con me is produced by Rai1 in collaboration with Ballandi and Artedanza srl. In this fourth edition, many guests have accepted Bolle’s invitation to accompany him and perform with him on stage: among them, Vasco Rossi, on whose notes Roberto Bolle will dance with Virna Toppi, prima ballerina of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Agnese Di Clemente and Gioacchino Starace, of the Compagnia della Scala, in a crossroads of pas de deux, choral moments and solos to tell the story of love in all its forms.
Leading the evening will be actors Francesco Montanari and Stefano Fresi and Miriam Leone, who will present, perform, play and dance.
Another special guest will be Michelle Hunziker, who will perform with Bolle in a musical number. In addition, the latter has entrusted her with the presentation of a piece against violence against women, a topic dear to both of them.
Music is as always among the main ingredients of Dance with Me. This year for the first time guest Ghali, but also a touching interpretation of civil rights activist Maya Angelou’s poem “Still I Rise” that will be interpreted by the dance of Carlos Kamizele, the street dancer who won for Italy the title of World Champion. Diodato will give his fans an unprecedented side, giving unexpected performances; Fabio Caressa will conquer even the most dance-impervious soccer fans.
Roberto Bolle’s art remains at the center of a system that mixes art, irony and the contemporary.
There will be ballet represented by great titles in the repertoire such as Kenneth MacMillan’s L’Histoire de Manon, which Roberto Bolle will perform alongside Nicoletta Manni with whom he also performs the Black Swan pas de deux from the celebrated Swan Lake. With Virna Toppi, on the other hand, Bolle will bring Carmen to life in Amedeo Amodio’s version. Prominent here is “Cacti” by rising star of world choreography Alexander Ekman, which Bolle performs with the Rome Opera House Company. Contemporary pieces also include Step Addition by Sébastien Galtier, performed by Bolle and Nicoletta Manni.
As always, there are many original choreographies that embrace contemporary instances read by choreographer Mauro Bigonzetti: Violence, with Antonella Albano, Soloist of Teatro alla Scala in Milan, against violence against women. Dante for Bolle and Agnese Di Clemente together with the MM Contemporary Dance Company, an evocative piece that interprets Dante’s ever-present infernal echoes. And again, a kaleidoscopic reinterpretation of a modern Nutcracker that mixes reality and dream, music and dance, and much more.
