Cannes Film Festival: red carpet for Wim Wenders and Anselm Kiefer. Presented the 3D film about the artist

Red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival for the cast of Wim Wenders' new documentary dedicated to the life and art of Anselm Kiefer: Anselm (Das Rauschen der Zeit). Shot in Germany, France and Italy, the film uses 3D technology.

Among the special screenings at the 76th Cannes Film Festival is Anselm (Das Rauschen der Zeit), the documentary dedicated to one of the greatest contemporary artists-Anselm Kiefer. The film is directed by Wim Wenders and was produced by Road Movies.

It was filmed in Germany, France, and Italy(between Marghera and Venice, in particular at the Doge’s Palace where the exhibition Anselm Kiefer is being held in the Sala dello Scrutinio until January 6, 2023. These writings, when burned, will finally give some light), it is a 3D documentary, with photography by Franz Lustig, music by Leonard Küßner and editing by Maxine Goedicke. On screen are Anselm Kiefer, Daniel Kiefer (young), Anton Wenders (boy). It benefited from the Veneto Film Commission’s location scouting fund in March 2022.

Wim Wenders’ new documentary closely followed the German artist’s work and philosophy, reflecting on the role of art and culture in today’s society. Both born at the end of World War II, these two great artists of our time are united by their parallel lives in different arts, mainly because the filmmaker wanted to become a painter and the painter considered writing and also filmmaking, and they are both involved in the construction of a new social and cultural identity for Europe.

Using 3D technology and the use of ultra-high 6k resolution, Wenders shows Kiefer’s Germany, his childhood and adolescence, his early years as an unknown young painter in a remote part of the country, where he practically worked in isolation, and then his breakthrough and international success. Wenders then takes us to Barjac, in the south of France, where Kiefer had a studio in the Cévennes mountains for 30 years, which is now part of the Eschaton Foundation. And then to his current studio near Paris, where the artist works.

The film aims to reveal Kiefer’s life journey, inspiration and creative process. Past and present intertwine at the boundary between film and painting, allowing the audience to fully immerse themselves in the world of one of the greatest contemporary artists. A unique portrait that the filmmaker created over the course of two years.

The cast of the film walked the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival today. Alongside the director was Anselm Kiefer.
