The Getty Museum has published a book where the world’s most famous works of art have been reinterpreted in a variety of ways. Van Gogh ’s Starry Night made out of spaghetti, Cat with a Pearl Earring, Frida Kahlo’s self-portraits with animals and toilet paper-these are just a few of the originally reinterpreted works that make up the volume titled Off the Walls: Inspired Re-Creations of Iconic Artworks.
During the period of confinement caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, thousands of people around the world, inspired by challenges issued by the museum venue itself and other museums, had fun recreating the most iconic artworks at home, sometimes even engaging their four-legged friends.
And the Getty Museum has decided to bring them together in a single publication, celebrating creativity and the desire to get involved, even in these difficult times.
The volume consists of 144 full-color pages and is available for purchase at a cost of $14. All proceeds will go to Artist Relief, anemergency initiative to support artists in the United States.
