Giovanni Bonifacio’s L’arte de’ cenni, the book by Silvia Gazzola that we discussed on these pages with an article by Enrico Dal Pozzolo and that is enjoying good success among specialists, will be presented on April 5 in Padua, at the Sala del Romanino at the Musei Civici agli Eremitani.
The book constitutes an in-depth dissection of theArte de’ cenni, the treatise written in 1616 by the Rovigo writer and historiographer Giovanni Bonifacio (Rovigo, 1547 - Padua, 1635) on the lexicon of gestures appearing in works of art. “A truly extraordinary contribution to a subject that involves a very wide range of historical disciplines, which ine sso will be able to fish for information and suggestions of all kinds at full hand”: this is how Enrico Maria Dal Pozzolo defines Silvia Gazzola’s book. And the art historian has no doubts: “it will become a classic of interdisciplinary humanistic approaches, at least in Italy.”
The presentation will take place at 5:30 p.m. in the presence of the author, Enrico Maria Dal Pozzolo (University of Verona) and Gino Belloni (Ca’ Foscari University of Venice). The volume is published by ZeL Edizioni, is sold at a cost of 75 euros and can be purchased on the publisher’s website.
