Kicking off Nov. 21 is #IOLEGGOPERCHÉ, the social campaign uniting all of Italy on the value of books and reading. Because "a book always unites."

Kicking off Nov. 21 is #IOLEGGOPERCHÉ, a campaign uniting Libriamoci and the whole of Italy, involving schools, bookstores, media, and authors, to remember the value of books and reading because"a book always unites."

The social campaign, which opened with video messages from Education Minister Lucia Azzolina, MiBACT Minister Dario Franceschini, Cepell(Center for Books and Reading) President Diego Marani and AIE(Italian Publishers Association) President, will coivolvate actors, newspaper editors and deputy editors and many authors.

It will also see the contribution of schools, book and reading lovers and all those who believe in the value of books. “There is no better way to kick off today that extraordinary celebration of books and reading that is #ioleggoperché and that will mobilize alone more than 13 thousand schools and more than 2,500 bookstores throughout Italy,” stressed AIE president Ricardo Franco Levi. “A single message, of cohesion and participation, under the big umbrella of love for books and reading. We ask everyone to participate on social media by sharing it, each in their own way.”

“A joint campaign that marks a handover of the baton,” commented Cepell President Diego Marani, “between Libriamoci, which has managed to involve, at the moment, more than 7,000 activities, more than 10,000 readers, and more than 2,200 schools to promote reading aloud, and #ioleggoperché, which starts today. A way to strengthen joint actions in favor of reading: the two campaigns will shake hands in this special online initiative involving all book lovers.”
